Woven Cross Ornament
Made in: Uganda
Artisan Group: The Women of Pader
This Woven Cross Ornament is carefully handcrafted by talented women artisans in Northern Uganda using approximately 104 individually hand-rolled paper beads. Each paper bead is woven onto a hand-shaped gold wire cross, creating a delicate design that celebrates both faith and the artistry of the women who made it.
Finished with a simple white ribbon, this cross can be hung on your Christmas tree during the holiday season or displayed year-round as a meaningful piece of home décor. Hang it on a wall, add it to a special display, or give it as a thoughtful gift to someone who holds their faith close.
Because each cross is handmade, no two are exactly alike. Slight variations in the beads and weaving are part of what makes each piece unique.
The Bead Project, a program of the Women of Pader, provides employment to 150 women making recycled paper and glass bead jewelry. These women artisans blend traditional African crafts with modern jewelry trends to create unique and lovely necklaces, bracelets, earrings, and gifts. Your purchase allows them to earn a dignified income to support their families and community.
