Timbali Crafts
The women who work to make the Timbali bags also volunteer at Care Points, where local children can come to receive a nutritious meal. Timbali Crafts helps the women in their sewing program to purchase their own sewing machines through no-interest loans and also provides them with the opportunity to participate in a matching savings program.
Meet the Artisans
Makoti
Makoti has been helping to feed orphans and vulnerable children in her community since 2002, and has been sewing for Timbali Crafts since it's beginning in 2005. Abandoned by her husband, Makoti raised her 6 children on her own, and also several of her many grandchildren. Makhoti saw how hard it was for her children to lose their father, so she volunteers at the community care point to help children show are experiencing the same thing. With her earnings from Timbali sales Makoti has been able to install electricity at her homestead.
Prudence
Prudence has been cooking at her neighborhood care point and working with Timbali Crafts since 2008. She was abandoned by her husband as a young mother of two. Prudence has had some serious health issues that have, at times, left her homebound for long seasons at a time, but in the last year she has experienced much improvement. Prudence has a very strong faith and is quick to testify that the Lord has brought healing to her body. If you ever had the chance to talk with Prudence, you would leave feeling encouraged!
Lindiwe
Lindiwe has been part of Timbali Crafts, and feeding orphans and vulnerable children in her community, since 2006. Lindiwe was injured in an accident when she was young and has walked with a limp ever since. In recent years the pain from walking so far each day on an injured leg has become very severe. Timbali Crafts has been able to help her get a crutch and also seek out medical care. Lindiwe has a beautiful singing voice and loves to lead the Timbali women in worship when they all gather together.
Monicah
Monicah has been a part of Timbali Crafts since 2005 and has been feeding orphans and vulnerable children in her community even longer. Monicah has a compassionate heart and her and her husband have raised not only their own nine children, but have also taken in several other children who had no family to live with. Two of Monicah's older sons have been involved in full-time ministry and one has been able to attend university.
