The Dominican Republic
Nitaino Culture
Marie Loise is a remarkable young artisan from Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic, and a fashion design student. Despite the challenges of pursuing her passion in a country where sewing is often undervalued, she has founded Nitaino Culture, a project that not only supports her education but also embodies her dream of empowering women through creative work. She aspires to incorporate more women into this project, providing them with the opportunity to work in the field of sewing. Many women have had to set aside this dream and settle for jobs that they are not passionate about solely out of economic necessity. Nitaino Culture aims to change that reality by offering opportunities in a creative and rewarding environment.

Marie Loise
Marie Loise makes beautiful handcrafted jute bags with FMSC MarketPlace partner Nitaino Culture. She is also a fashion design student in the Dominican Republic. "In my country, sewing doesn't receive the recognition it deserves, which makes it difficult to find job opportunities to apply my skills. Nitaino Culture enables me to work and support myself while studying, allowing me to dedicate myself to what I truly love."
Every bag Marie Loise makes is crafted with love, resilience, and a vision to create opportunities for other women in her community. She dreams of inspiring others to follow their passions while contributing to personal and economic development.
