House of Blessing
In partnership with FMSC food partner Venture, House of Blessing ministers to refugees who have fled to Thailand due to decades of conflict and persecution in Myanmar. Life in the refugee camps is difficult and uncertain. Refugees have few opportunities, because they are not allowed to venture outside the crowded camps, and can be arrested by Thai police if caught. They must instead try to work and support themselves inside the camps. House of Blessing works with widows and teenage girls who carry on the traditional art of Karen weaving, requiring skill and craftsmanship often inherited from their mothers and grandmothers. For many, weaving is their sole source of income. Being able to sell their product in an export market increases their family income and stability, giving them hope and a vision of a promising future.
