Haiti Design Co
Haiti Design Co was founded in 2014 with the goal to bring about sustainable development through design, training and job creation. Now employing more than 115 artisans, they are working to raise up leaders within the collective. Haiti Design Co also partners with outside production teams, growing their influence and support of Haitian artisans and entrepreneurs.
Meet the Artisans
Cenice
Cenice used to be the groundskeeper at Haiti Design Co, a small business that partnered with FMSC to promote empowerment and economic growth in the community. Eventually, the owners started teaching him how to create items from leather. Cenice started teaching other men, the co-op started a men’s program for leather work and now he manages 15 people!
Jerry
Jerry is part of the leather team, Ekip Solid (meaning “solid team”), at FMSC MarketPlace partner Haiti Design Collective. He is grateful for the training he has received at HDC, which is helping his dream of owning his own home become a reality. Saving for the future isn’t something that exists in Haitian culture or really is even a possibility, but after receiving training at HDC, this changed for him, and he began saving for his dream.
