PACKED WITH PURPOSE
When you purchase a backpack made by FMSC MarketPlace parter Vi Bella, we’ll donate one to a student in Haiti.
Many Haitian children face significant barriers to accessing quality education—not only due to systemic issues but also because of the lack of basic school supplies, like backpacks. In a country where 36.6% of the population lives on less than $2.16 per day, many families simply cannot afford durable and practical school supplies. The absence of essential tools like backpacks makes it difficult for students to attend school regularly and carry their learning materials safely.
Backpacks do more than hold books—they protect what little students have, promote a sense of dignity and inclusion, and help children show up ready to learn. A well-made backpack can last for years, offering consistency and support in a child’s educational journey, especially in under-resourced communities.
In addition, Vi Bella’s artisans face limited opportunities for sustained employment, particularly those with disabilities who face discrimination in the local job market. This project will not only address the educational needs of children but will also create sustainable employment opportunities, enhancing economic stability for Vi Bella artisans and their families.
