Basket Vase

Made in: Honduras
Artisan Group: Women of San Juan
For a natural accent that brightens the room, this basket vase strikes the perfect balance between casual and refined. Each is masterfully handwoven using Honduran suyate leaves, bringing a natural, organic feel to any space. Fill them with dried grasses or faux botanicals to further their organic appeal.
Each basket is meticulously woven by hand by The Women of San Juan. These artisans are part of an indigenous group in Honduras called the Tolupanes and come from the San Juan tribe. They live in a remote area called Montana De La Flor. Basket weaving is a handicraft that has been passed down through many generations. The suyate leaves used to make the baskets grows in the higher altitudes of Montana De La Flor and the women walk for several hours to pick it. It then has to be laid out to dry before being used to create the baskets.
