Gonzales began drawing early in life and worked his way up to open his own shop. He works with with Singing Rooster, one of FMSC’s MarketPlace partners who support economic growth and sustainability in Haiti. He says that being an art entrepreneur can be challenging, and he is grateful for this income.
Louis began working in metal art when he was just 8 years old. His uncle taught him the trade. Now 30, Louis enjoys crafting pieces inspired by nature. He has a special preference for bumble bees and butterflies, “I like how they sit on the flower - so delicate.” He is only one of two in his extended family who is employed and is able to support several family members with his earnings.
Lourdes works as a coffee bean sorter in one of Haiti’s largest coffee sectors. She and her husband have six children. Her husband’s eyesight is deteriorating, so it is up to her to provide for her family. Singing Rooster, one of FMSC’s MarketPlace partners who support economic growth and sustainability in Haiti, works with Lourdes to sell the coffee beans she works so hard to sort.
