Fabretto empowers families in Nicaragua by developing economic opportunities and improving education and nutrition. The Cusmapa Women’s Basket Cooperative is supported by Fabretto and employs 40 women who weave baskets and other crafts from pine needles.

ARTISAN HIGHLIGHT | TERESA
Teresa joined the Basket Cooperative in 2006 when Fabretto Children's Foundation created the cooperative to promote empowerment and economic growth in the community. Teresa enjoys using her creativity to create new designs for pine needle baskets. Her income from the basket cooperative allows her to pay her children’s school fees and provide them with nutritious food.

Isabel joined the Basket Cooperative in 2006 when Fabretto Children’s Foundation created the cooperative to promote empowerment and economic growth in the community. She said each basket takes 30 hours to make by hand. Her income from the basket cooperative allows her to send her children to school. She hopes to empower other women in Nicaragua.
