Haitian Cloth Pins by 3 Cords

3 Cords is a social enterprise dedicated to training, employing, and empowering Haitian, amputee women and their families in Titanyen, Haiti. This small business initiative began after the devastating earthquake in 2010 left many people without limbs and without jobs. In most cases, the women artisans at 3 Cords are caring for multiple adults and children within their families. Through their micro-enterprise, now completely run by the Haitian women themselves, they have become empowered and respected in their community. The 3 Cords workspace is a safe environment where the women artisans feel welcomed and at home with their friends who share a similar story. The name 3 Cords comes from Ecclesiastes 4:9-12: “Two are better than one… If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up… Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of 3 strands is not easily broken.” 3 Cords chose this verse because the women believe very strongly in the power of community.
